Just as Catherine emphasized the change she had made from child to children, she
lovingly touched her rounded belly, and as Vincent tipped his head in wonder, she
nodded YES, in answer to his unspoken question! Children? As in more than one child?
YES, Vincent as well as everyone else caught Catherine's message, and realized she
was carrying TWINS! And of course Peter who was privy to the scoop, happily
confirmed everyone's questioning whispers, by telling everyone, another little rascal
appeared on the Ultrasound yesterday!
Vincent meanwhile, after digesting this additional life altering information, stepped
closer to Catherine to confirm, "Catherine...we are having twins?"
Biting her lip, she nodded slowly at first, but as a smile spread across her mouth,
she excitedly said, "YES! We are having twins!"
As the wedding guests cheered and clapped at this wonderous news, with concern,
Catherine quietly told her groom, "Maybe I should have told you more privately."
To which Vincent lovingly embraced her saying, "Your timing is perfect. As I say my
vows to you and to our baby today, I wouldn't want to leave out our other baby, when I
make my decree of devotion to you. Catherine...it is right to include the whole clan."
Just then Dr. Wong cleared his throat, and tried to get the ceremony back on track,
and scolded, "Catherine, you must complete you vows to Vincent, or those twins will
not have legally married parents!"
Everyone roared at Dr. Wong's humorous comment, and Catherine finally settled
herself down enough to coninue...however...embarrassingly, she realized she had
forgotten where she left off! So nervously she asked, "May I start again please?"
To which Dr. Wong kindly said, "Of course."
With elegance and grace, Catherine recited:

Together, Catherine and Vincent decided to tell Jacob the exciting news, that they
were engaged to be married!
However the moment he saw their jubilant mood, not to mention the radiant diamond
ring on Catherine's left hand, they didn't get to say a word, for he had guessed!
Sharing a warm look with his son, Jacob relied on his cane, as he hobbled forward to
welcome them into his chamber.
Tenderly, he took Catherine's hand in his, and looked down at the ring, that had once
donned his own true love's hand.
With a tone of melancholy, he stated, "It looks just as lovely on you Catherine...as it
did on Margaret."
A feeling of care swept over Catherine for this man, who so often, she had been at
odds with in the past.
Seeing Jacob this way...so vulnerable, as a broken hearted man, touched her very
deeply, and she so badly wanted to somehow comfort him.
And so she tenderly said to him, "I cannot tell you what it means to us, that you and
Margaret wanted us to have your ring as a symbol now, of the bond Vincent and I share."
Gently cupping his hand in hers, she added, "It is a beautiful ring Father."
Vincent watched his father and bride-to-be, and knew the future would be different
for them.
Catherine had finally proven her love for Vincent was genuine, and now that Jacob
had passed down this heirloom to Vincent, he had proven that he has accepted Catherine
now...fully and wholeheartedly so.
Jacob looked at them both, and said, "It was Margaret's dying wish."
After a moment of silence in honor of Margaret, Vincent then shared, "We plan to
marry as soon as possible Father."
Jacob cleared his throat, before emphatically replying, "I would hope so under the
circumstances."
He then tried to soften the harshness of his comment by adding, "I mean to say, not
only because you have a child on the way, but also because everyone is very excited,
anticipating the announcement of the Grand event."
Catherine laughed softly, and said, "Yes, we kind of suspected that was the case. In
fact, only this morning, little Cathy asked us when we were going to get married!"
Vincent amusedly added, "Of course Catherine and I have our suspicions. We believe
she was merely repeating a conversation her mother must have had."
The three of them had a chuckle about little Cathy the mockingbird, when Vincent
changed the topic, and intently mentioned, "We do need your advice on a few of the
details for our ceremony Father."
Seriously, Jacob scratched his chin, and said, "Yes indeed. Well, as you know, Dr.
Wong is a licensed minister, perhaps he could preside. And the ceremony could be held
in the Great Hall, with a reception to follow."
Smiling up at Vincent, Catherine then sweetly looked at Jacob and said, "That sounds
lovely Father."
The beaming smile on Catherine's face, was all Vincent needed to know she was
pleased with these plans. Which was good enough for him, because if she was happy,
then he was happy too.
Decisively, Vincent replied, "Very well Father, I will contact Dr. Wong right away."
Word was sent and received back and forth with Dr. Wong, all in the course of the
afternoon...and so it was decided a marriage would be taking place...tomorrow night!
The mid-day meal was filled with excitement, as everyone offered to do their part to
pull off this impromptu wedding ceremony.
Mary held court with all the willing helpers, and from this basic core of people, it all
was planned.
Invitations were designed and sent to the Helpers in the world above, food was
prepared by William and his trusty crew, the Great Hall was scoured, and the
decorations of red and white roses were placed everywhere!
Feeling taxed by all the extra activity, Catherine told Vincent she needed to go lay
down for a little while.
With concern, Vincent summoned the chariot from the Hospital chamber, so he could
comfortably wheel her back to his chamber.
After she settled in, Vincent questioned her, asking if she felt her fatigue, was
threatening to either her, or their baby in any way.
Reaching up to touch his cheek, she tried to re-assure him, saying, "I don't believe so
Vincent. I am just so tired, and our baby...our baby is so active right now."
Taking his hand, she placed it over her belly, and asked, "Can you feel how much the
baby is moving?"
Nodding, Vincent smiled as he looked downward, and said, "Yes...and I sense
something more from our baby than I had before. I sense a communication of sorts, but
it is hard to define."
Placing her hand over his, she whispered, "I love how you have this connection to
our baby. It completes our circle perfectly."
Making sure she was really all right, he tenderly kissed her hair, and told her he
would check back on her in a little while.
As she rested on Vincent's gargantuan bed, the active-ness of the baby, made it
difficult for Catherine to actually sleep. So she lied there, pondering how her life had
changed, and of how happy she was. Here she was little Catherine Chandler, in this wild
and unbelievable fairy tale, marrying this quite unique man, whom she loved more than
life itself. Suddenly, she felt the baby flip-flop, and was reminded, that it won't be long
until they would be sharing their life with this baby too.
Her only regret was, she couldn't share her happiness with Jennifer or Nancy, her
dearest friends, who she found to be missing more and more with each passing day.
A while later, Vincent quietly stepped back in to peak at Catherine, and was surprised
to see she was not asleep. Stepping closer still, he and was concerned by the fact, he
detected a look of sadness in her wide open eyes, as she stared off toward his stained
glass window.
Sitting down beside her, he spoke her name with care, softly saying , "Catherine?"
Trying to mask her sadness, she smiled and said, "I love this window. The colors are
so vivid, and extraordinary."
In an appeasing tone, he agreed with her, saying he was glad she liked the stained
glass window as much as he did, but didn't want to get off track concerning her nap. So
he more urgently said, "I thought you'd be sleeping by now. You seemed so tired."
In a mock Light-hearted manner, she replied, "I was, but once I laid down, I couldn't
sleep. Maybe its because our baby is so busy."
Watching her closely, he could see the tears even but though she was smiling.
Skillfully, he waded through her cheerful façade, and gently asked, "Tell me what you
are really thinking. What is wrong?"
An ironic grin appeared, as she realized she couldn't fool Vincent, even when their
bond was not in tact. So truthfully, she answered, "The other day when I called Nancy
and Jenny, to tell them I was all right, well, it was just so difficult! I really wanted to tell
them about you, the man I love, and of how you saved my life! I wanted to tell them
that I was going to have a baby, and even though I am happy about being pregnant, the
thought of delivery scares me to death! I wanted to tell them about this magical tunnel
world, where people help people, and I just wanted to tell them about everything new in
my life! After all, it was Nancy who helped me realize our love was all that mattered,
and Jenny, well Jenny just loves romance! They would both love to know how happy I
am, not to mention...how pregnant I am too."
With an understanding nod, Vincent himself wished, "If only there was a way..."
In a caring tone, Catherine said, "Its all right. I know it isn't possible Vincent."
Brushing her hair back from her eyes, he huskily whispered, "Try to get some rest...
at least in your dreams you can tell them."
Happily, she replied, "Yes, in my dreams I can tell them everything."
Closing her eyes, she sleepily said, "Well our baby has settled down now, and I really
am tired. Maybe I will take just a wee nap Vincent...I love you."
Watching her drift off to sleep, Vincent quietly sat with her for a moment, before he
left the chamber, to meet with Jacob.
Entering the Great Hall, he found his Father talking with Peter, who came below, as
soon as he received word of the nuptials!
After all, Peter would be giving Catherine away, and so he felt he needed to be in all
the plans!
Proudly he looked around, and said, "I see the roses arrived already. They look great
uh? I believe I got every red and white rose there was in the city!"
Shaking his head, Jacob looked at Vincent and said, "I guess Catherine called it
correctly. Peter WAS the one to send down all of these extravagant roses!"
Exuberantly Peter declared, "Of course I did! They are Cathy's favorites!"
To which Jacob chuckled and said, "You should have seen her face when they were
delivered! She was beside herself!"
Peter then anxiously asked Vincent, how all the other wedding plans were going.
Unconsciously, Vincent answered Peter's question with a heavy-hearted tone, as he
replied, "Just fine."
Peter exchanged looks with Jacob, as he wondered what Vincent's long face was all
about. Accusingly he asked, "You're not getting cold feet are you?"
Realizing his empathy for Catherine's loneliness, was being misconstrued, Vincent
decided to share the conversation he had with her a little while earlier.
After Peter, and Jacob heard of Catherine's wish to include her friends in her life,
Peter matter-of-factly asked, "Well, what's the problem. I don't see why her two buddies
can't be a part of her new life. The poor kid has lost both her folks already. She doesn't
need to lose anyone else does she?"
Looking at Jacob, he then asked, "Well? What do you have to say?"
Thinking on all the helpers above who have knowledge of their world, and after
Jacob contemplated the entire situation, he finally said in agreement, "I think it would be
good for Catherine to have the support of her friends in the days to come."
Assuredly, Peter said, "I agree! And they are both great girls. I will talk with them."
Peter then asked, "How do you want to handle this? Are we going to keep this a
secret from Cathy?"
Jacob spoke up, saying he would prefer it, in case things don't go well. He didn't
want to excite or disappoint Catherine right now, not in her fatigued state.
After Peter found out Catherine was stressed out, he decided to go peak in on her,
and have a look see. Both Jacob and Vincent agreed that was a good idea, and would be
waiting to hear his diagnosis.
As he ventured through the tunnels, Peter thought it just might also be a good idea, to
do another ultrasound. And so he stopped by the Hospital chamber to pick up the
portable machine, and continued on to Vincent's chamber.
Just as he entered, Catherine was getting back into bed! Surprised she wasn't asleep,
Peter scolded, "Where are you coming from? I thought you were resting."
With a helpless smile, Catherine replied, "I was asleep, and then the baby woke me
with a kick, and then he must have decided to lay down on my bladder, because I really
had to go to the bathroom!"
Helping her back into bed, Peter sat down beside her, and with his best bed-side
manner, he said, "You know kiddo, this pregnancy is different from anyone else's,
because Vincent is different. So if I seem to be doting, it is because I am! I don't want to
scare you or worry you because of this extra attention, but I warn you, I am going to be
vigilant in you care. After all, I love you and you are my first concern."
Feeling a little tearful, Catherine said, "I know Peter, and I suppose I will enjoy all the
attention you can dish out."
Happy to hear she wasn't going to poo-poo his care, Peter said, "Good! Then you
won't argue with me, when I tell you I would like to do another ultrasound."
Compliantly, Catherine answered, "No argument from me, because if truth be
known, I could look at my baby on that monitor all day long."
As Peter set everything up, he casually mentioned, "I understand you were feeling a
little blue earlier today. Vincent told me it was because you are missing your friends
Jennifer, and Nancy."
Feeling her chin quiver, Catherine tearfully admitted, "Its true. I do miss them Peter.
I always thought that as long as I had Vincent, he would be all I needed. But Jennifer
and Nancy have been like sisters to me. How can I just forget all they have meant to
me? It is just so difficult knowing, I will never be able to tell them about Vincent, or
show them my little baby!"
Taking the handkerchief from his pocket, Peter dried the tears from her cheeks, and
in a nurturing manner said, "All right, all right now calm down. Let's not get all worked
up."
Pouting, Catherine confessed, "I guess I had been holding everything in ever since I
committed myself to Vincent. I knew there had to be sacrifices, but I guess I didn't
realize how it would affect me in the future."
She then let go of an ironic giggle, and noted, "Well the future is now, and I guess
with my hormones all wacky, my having to let go of those friendships, has made me
really sad."
As Peter progressed with the procedure, he gently applied the gel, and soothingly he
said, "You know it is important to keep your chin up Cathy. You realize your baby can
sense your moods?"
Taking in a deep breath, Catherine replied, "Yes, I know...I will try."
Optimistically, Peter then added, "And who knows, maybe one day, your friends will
be coming in and out of these tunnels as if there was a revolving door around here.
Remember, all things are subject to change in this life Cathy."
Rolling her eyes, Catherine laughed as she said, "Oh boy, don't I know it!"
Peter then began to run the probe over Catherine's tummy, and lovingly, he held
Catherine's hand for support, as he anxiously watched the monitor. He was eager to see
if he detected, what he had instinctively suspected!
Catherine began watching the monitor too, and suddenly...she saw something quite
alarming! With her eyes widened to the max, she looked at Peter, wondering if he had
also seen, what she had seen!
The look on Peter's face told her he had! Stammering, Catherine asked, "Did I....did
I....did I see another baby?"
Nodding, Peter was speechless for a moment, before he finally answered, "Yes
kiddo! It looks like you and Vincent are having twins! I kinda thought you might be."
Looking back at the monitor, Catherine watched the two babies that were sharing her
womb, and though she was excited, she had to wonder...how will Vincent handle this
additional news?
Asking for Peter's advice, she inquired, "Do you think I should tell Vincent right
away, or wait until after the wedding?"
Thinking of how Vincent was still recovering from a fragile frame of mind, Peter
suggested, "I think I would be very choosy when you pick the moment to tell him. You
will know when it is right. And don't worry about me blabbing, this is your news to tell,
and I won't break our patient/doc privilege."
In a soft emotional whisper, Catherine thanked Peter, and when he asked her if she
had seen enough, she held his hand that was holding the probe in place, and asked,
"Please, just a little while longer?"
With a Grandpa's awe, Peter proudly watched the two babies too, and as he and
Catherine noted all the hair on the previously camera shy twin, he said, "It looks like you
each have your own mini-me's Cathy. One takes after you, and the other, looks just like
papa!"
Reaching over to touch the monitor, Catherine agreed, and lovingly said, "They are
both beautiful aren't they?"
With an emotion filled voice, Peter replied, "Yep, they sure are."
He then tucked Catherine in under the quilt, before lovingly prescribing her to get
some rest.
As promised, Peter stopped back to speak with Vincent and Jacob, telling them,
"Everything seems fine with the little mama, but we have to watch she doesn't get
depressed. I do believe she could use her friends right now for emotional support."
In agreement, Vincent said, "She spoke earlier of how she wished her friends could
share in this happy time of her life, because they had been there during all of her sad."
With concern, Jacob asked, "Do you think you could contact them in time for
tomorrow's ceremony Peter?"
With confidence, Peter stated, "I am sure of it, just leave it all to me."
He then slapped Vincent on the back, and declared, "It looks like tonight...you and I
have a little visiting to do!"
Tipping his head, Vincent questioned, "You want me to speak with them as well?"
Thoughtfully, Peter planned, "Of course! Here's what we'll do. I'll ask the girls to
meet us at Catherine's apartment. We'll fill them in, and explain everything to them
tonight. Don't worry, it will all work out."
The next day, the preparations went off without a hitch, and everyone was eager,
excited, and emotional!
As the Great Hall began to fill up with tunnel folk, and helpers alike, Catherine stood
in front of the mirror, wearing the dress her Mother wore for her wedding, all those
years ago, when suddenly, she began to cry.
She couldn't help thinking, her Mom should be there, helping her get ready for her
wedding day, and her Father should be the one to give her away.
She hated to seem ungrateful, because she dearly loved Peter, and of course Mary,
Rebecca and the other girls from Vincent's world, have been a great help to her, but it
wasn't the same as having her own family and friends there with her.
Wiping the tears away, she tried to get a grip on her emotions, and keep her eyes on
the big picture.
Turing slightly in the mirror, she could see a little green tag from the Dry-cleaner, still
pinned onto the back of her dress!
Trying to reach around to unfasten the pin, she began to cry out of frustration, saying
aloud, "Darn! I can't reach it!"
Just then, Jennifer and Nancy burst into the chamber, and it was Nancy, who
matter-of-factly asked, "What are you trying to do? Unpin that? Here let me help!"
Grabbing a hairbrush from her purse, Jennifer ordered, "Come and sit down over
here, so I can brush through that rats nest!"
Looking back and forth at her two friends, in surprised shock, she asked, "What are
you two doing here?"
Curtly, Nancy answered, "We're here for your wedding of course!"
To which Jennifer added, "At least Vincent thought we were invitation worthy, even
though you didn't!"
They all began laughing, as both Nancy and Jennifer explained how Peter introduced
them to Vincent last night...the man who they found out, had saved her life...more than
once, and for that fact alone...they loved him!
They continued to say, how excited they were for Catherine, not only is she getting
married, but was expecting a baby too!
After hearing them both go on and on, Catherine grew curious, that neither Nancy, or
Jennifer, mentioned a word concerning Vincent's differences! And so, anxiously
Catherine finally asked, "Aren't either of you going to say anything about Vincent?!"
Both Jennifer and Nancy looked at each other, and jokingly, Jennifer noted, "He is
quite tall isn't he!"
Catherine looked at them suspiciously, and said, "I know you had to see Vincent is
different from any one else we have ever known...I think we better talk about these
issues, and not just act as if they don't exist."
Stepping up, Nancy looked at Catherine and said, "Of course we noticed he is
different, but we also noticed how he looked when he spoke about you. We know he
loves you, and can't live without you, so hey, we can overlook any thing physical as long
as he makes you happy! Besides...I think he's very cool looking...like some mythical
god!"
Jennifer raised her eyebrow, and dreamily lamented, "Yes Nancy...that's it...a
mythical god. As for myself, well I know, that I am willing to look into those beautiful
blue eyes if I must, for the sake of our friendship Cathy! Oh and did I mention he has
some beautiful blue eyes?"
Catherine began to laugh, as she thought of how much she loved her two friends, and
their open loving attitude in her and Vincent's regard. Hugging them both around the
neck, she pulled them to her, and wept tears of joy as she said, "I love you both so
much! Thanks for being here for me."
Both Nancy and Jennifer cried as well, and said, they were happy to be there, and
loved her very much too.
So in between giggles, and nonstop conversation, they then continued to get
Catherine ready, to walk down the aisle to her Vincent.
Meanwhile, Vincent received word via Rebecca, that Catherine's friends were with
her now, and noted that from the chamber's threshold, she could hear them laughing,
crying, and shouting, which were all good indicators that they were having a great
reunion!
Smiling, Vincent replied, "Good."
Rebecca helped Vincent straighten his tie, and when Jacob entered the chamber, she
excused herself, so Vincent could have a moment alone with his father.
Attentively, Jacob asked, "Are you ready for this most auspicious occasion?"
To which Vincent pensively answered, "Yes Father, I have been ready to belong to
someone for all of my life. I only needed to find Catherine."
Thinking that it was doubtful, Vincent would have ever met Catherine if it was not
for her being so brutally attacked, and left for dead in the park like she was. So
thoughtfully, Jacob supposed, "Who would have guessed, that something so beautiful,
could have come from so much pain."
Staring off, Vincent said, "I would Father...because from the moment I was born, all
of life has been that way."
Lovingly he looked at his father, and said, "If my birth mother would not have
abandoned me, I wouldn't have been found by Anna, who had brought me home, to be
cared for by you, a man with a heart, to love a child like me."
After an emotional embrace, Jacob replied, "Have I told you that raising you, had
been a privilege? And I am so proud that it is I, you call father."
They then shared a look, that reached down into each other's hearts, because they
both knew, they had filled a cruel emptiness that society had created and left in the other
man's life.
It was then, that Peter, and Pascal came to the threshold, to tell the two Wells men,
the time had come to marry off Sonny boy.
And so the eclectic entourage headed for the Great Hall, to support Vincent, a man
who had finally found happiness through the love of a woman, who not only gave
Vincent her heart, but was also giving the tunnels, a new brace of kinsmen.
Once everyone was in place, the minstrels began to play, and assuredly Vincent stood
at the front of the Hall with Dr. Wong, watching as Peter walked Catherine down the
aisle.
The strength in Vincent's eyes, was the sole force, that gave Catherine the power to
walk this day. She was so excited, that the additional activities were quite taxing to this
twin bearing Mom. But she was happy, and was thrilled to be living out her total dream.
Standing beside Vincent, Peter placed her hand in Vincent's, and sweetly he kissed
her cheek, and walked back to sit beside Jacob and Mary.
Beginning the traditional wedding ceremony, Dr. Wong presented Vincent his chance
to speak the verse he had written.
Turning to face one another, they looked deeply into each others eyes for a moment,
before Vincent began:

"Through your love, I have found treasures, appraised beyond all worth Through your knowledge, I have learned That love has no vision nor need for definition Through your care The darkness has been slain and has withered away Through your devotion We have found our destiny And through you, I have found the courage and the faith To face all that is before us I promise...until my last breath I will protect All that is ours
Overcome by the sweetness of the verse Vincent had written for her, Catherine took a moment to gather her emotions before reciting the verse she had written for him. She loved the fact he had included the decree of strength to face all that is before them, and so she wondered if maybe this was the perfect moment Peter had spoke of. So in a trembling breath, she then began:
"Where you go Vincent I will go. And where you stay I will also stay. Your world has become my home Your people will now be my people. And your happiness Will be my only purpose and my reason to exist."
Dr. Wong directed them to recite their wedding vows. Turning to Vincent, he said, "Please begin Vincent." Compliantly Vincent nodded, and securely, he looked at Catherine to say:
"I Vincent, take you Catherine, to be my wife. My love, and to be the mother of our child. I will be yours in good times, and in bad. In sickness and in health. In failure, and in triumph. I will cherish you, and respect you comfort you from today, and for the rest of our lives."
Dr. Wong then told Catherine it was her turn, and so she shakily said:
"I Catherine, take you Vincent, to be my husband. My love, and the father of our CHILDREN."
